I shit on self-improvement a lot recently,

Not on the concept itself...

But the way people twisted it into actual self-indulgence.

This is what I call the "self-improvement trap:"

The truth is self-destruction could actually take you further in life.

Why?

Because self-improvement has become a viscous cycle that so many young guys fall into.

They're reading books, waking up at 5 AM, meditating,

Journaling, doing some school work, cold showers...

And yeah that's cool and all.

But for what?

Most of them are stuck in this hollow cycle of "getting better" for the sake of getting better.

Optimizing, tweaking, fine-tuning... but all for what?

Not to mention the mfs that chase "purpose" like some magical treasure at the end of a rainbow.

Something that when found, will FINALLY make them feel fulfilled and at peace.

But that kind of thing doesn't exist,

And in fact,

For 99.9% of people, purpose doesn't exist when you're broke.

You can journal until your pen is dry, meditate until you float

But none of that matters if you can't even pay rent.

Meanwhile these guys see their parents still grinding away, day after day.

Their dad waking up before dawn heading to construction site,

Mom working a job she hates while keeping the family afloat.

Yet, they decide to "self-improve."

?????

Mf have you thought about helping instead of being such an egotistical bitch?

It's not like they're an incapable 12 year old kid?

Imagine your mother works harder than you ever will, even after all your cold showers and bullshit 😹

Just thinking about it shames me to my core.

Self-improvement without a purpose is just self-indulgence.

It's a way to feel good about yourself without doing what matters.

If you really want to make progress,

Self-destruct that persona of endless self-improvement.

Objectively analyze what actions move you forward,

And "self-destruct" the ones that don't serve you.

(Journaling actually comes in hand here.)

Cold showers aren't hard work.

Reading books isn't hard work.

Meditating isn't hard work.

Make it your mission to make some money.

Passion or not, do the hard things anyway.

Build that business. Put in the hours.

Do the things that make you money (instead of simulating hardship like a retard)

Self-improvement won't get you there.

But self-destructing everything holding you back, just might.
